주님의 뜨락을 그리워하며 이 영혼 여위어 가나이다. 살아 계신 하느님을 향하여 이 몸과 이 마음 환성을 올리나이다.
사슴이 시냇물을 그리워하듯, 하느님, 제 영혼이 당신을 그리나이다. 제 영혼이 하느님을, 생명의 하느님을 목말라하나이다. 하느님의 얼굴을 언제 가서 뵈오리이까? 당신의 빛과 진리를 보내시어, 저를 인도하게 하소서. 당신의 거룩한 산, 당신의 거처로 데려가게 하소서.
저는 하느님의 제단으로 나아가오리다. 제 기쁨과 즐거움이신 하느님께 나아가오리다. 하느님, 저의 하느님, 비파 타며 당신을 찬송하오리다.

내가 진실로 너희에게 말한다.
어떠한 예언자도 자기 고향에서는 환영을 받지 못한다.
내가 참으로 너희에게 말한다.
삼 년 육 개월 동안 하늘이 닫혀 온 땅에 큰 기근이 들었던 엘리야 때에, 이스라엘에 과부가 많이 있었다. 그러나 엘리야는 그들 가운데 아무에게도 파견되지 않고, 시돈 지방 사렙타의 과부에게만 파견되었다. 또 엘리사 예언자 시대에 이스라엘에는 나병 환자가 많이 있었다. 그러나 그들 가운데 아무도 깨끗해지지 않고, 시리아 사람 나아만만 깨끗해졌다.

It was to none of these that Elijah was sent, but only to a widow in Zarephathp in the land of Sidon. Again, there were many lepers in Israel during the time of Elisha the prophet; yet not one of them was cleansed, but only Naaman the Syrian.”
